The map plots all 23 Arctic municipalities that recorded at least one economic "splash"—a sharp year-over-year increase in real terms of at least 20% in wages, investment per capita, retail turnover, and other indicators. These municipalities account for all 98 splash episodes in the dataset. The size of the circle reflects the number of episodes recorded in each municipality, while its color reflects the magnitude of the given municipality's single biggest splash. Clicking a circle opens the full list of splashes for that locality showing indicator, year, and real growth.
